The BECA Foundation will be hosting its first exhibition featuring a survey of free-standing sculptural works by emerging artists at a TBA outdoor location. The location is open and uncovered on a major uptown thoroughfare in New Orleans and will serve as the site for a one day public exhibition event in mid-June. The site is composed of both concrete and grass so please keep this mind when considering your submission. If you are an emerging artist or designer (emerging is defined herein as having not yet had a solo exhibition in a major art center or museum) over the age of 18, you may submit your free-standing sculptural works (no size or weight restrictions) for consideration by sending up to 10 high-quality jpg images sized approximately 8x10 inches at 72dpi for review along with the dimensions and description of each work, your name, mailing address, city, state, zip, country and email address. Multiple views are allowed. You may use pedestals or other installation apparatus but please include this in your indicated overall dimensions for each work. There is no submission fee for this opportunity but donations are always welcome at http://www.thebecafoundation.org/global/give-get.html .
Please email your submission to mail@thebecafoundation.org with the subject line "outdoor sculpture exhibit-June". This exhibit is a non-commercial event and all artists are welcome to submit their work for consideration, regardless of commercial gallery affiliation. If there is purchasing interest for the works during the event, it is left up to each artist or their representative to follow up with their own arrangements after the event concludes. There will be no on-site sales via this event.
Submissions will be accepted by email only. The submission receive deadline is May 23, 2009 at 8pm CST. Notifications of accepted artists/works will be issued to all submitting artists + designers via email on May 26, 2009. Artists will be responsible for the transportation of their art to and from the location site. Insurance of artworks is the sole responsibility of each individual artist. Artists or their representative will be expected to be on-site with the artwork from late morning delivery until 6pm. Local, national and international promotional outreach to the public for this event will be pursued for the benefit of all participants.
Further questions may be addressed by emailing mail@thebecafoundation.org. Please do not contact BECA gallery. Thank-you.
